What is the BUPA 10,000?

This is your chance to feel like a real Olympian by running the route of the 2012 Olympics Marathon (albeit slightly shorter!). This popular 10 k run is suitable for all abilities. You will run past some of London's most famous sights, including Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, St. Paul's Cathedral and Nelson's Column, starting and finishing at Buckingham Palace.

What is the issue, problem or challenge?

Imagine if your face stopped looking like you. Imagine friends and strangers averting their eyes, embarrassed, because of the way you look. In the UK alone, nearly 5000 individuals develop disfiguring oral cancers each year. 1700 of them died last year. They were young, old, rich and poor – people like you. Around 125,000 young drinkers also sustained serious face injuries last year, with 15,000 receiving surgery to repair dangerously disfiguring wounds.

What we do

Saving Faces, is the only charity in the United Kingdom solely dedicated to the worldwide reduction of facial injury, deformity and disease. Our research programmes intend to improve the lives of many millions of face disfigurement victims worldwide. Our Prevention Education aimed at teenage binge drinkers and smokers is already having a major impact. But we need more funds.

With your help, Saving Faces will save and improve lives
